Ranbir Kapoor had earlier this year announced his new film, Animal, which would be helmed by Kabir Singh director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Besides Ranbir, the film will also have Anil Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, and Bobby Deol on board.
Animal was supposed to release on Dusshera next year but has been postponed to 2023 due to the pandemic. The makers of the film have now announced that the film will have a worldwide release on August 11, 2023. The film will see Vanga’s return after the 2017 Telugu hit Arjun Reddy and the subsequent Hindi remake of it, which was also a blockbuster.
After announcing the film, Ranbir had said that during the pandemic, everybody got some time to introspect about the kind of movies they were doing, and when Sandeep narrated the story, the actor grew close to the character and immediately agreed to come aboard. Ranbir added that he is a huge fan of both of Sandeep’s movies and looks forward to starting working for Animal.
Vanga had also spoken his heart out on the collaboration and had said that he was excited to call out action and cut on Ranbir. Bhushan Kumar, the producer of the film, had said that seeing Sandeep’s passion for filmmaking, he knew he had to collaborate once again with him after Kabir Singh. He added that when he was narrated the script of the film by Sandeep, he knew there was a winner. Animal is a gangster drama that talks about the ever-changing relationships shared between characters. While Parineeti will play Ranbir’s wife in the film, Anil Kapoor will don the role of his father.
