Keanu Reeves, the Matrix star, is in contention to act in a Hulu series, an adaptation of The Devil In The White City. The series is expected to be a big-budget take on Erik Larson’s 2003 book. The Devil In The White City is about two men, one of who is an architect and the other a killer, whose fate gets linked forever because of the Chicago World Fair in 1893.
The story follows a brilliant architect, Daniel H. Burnham, wanting to make his mark on the world stage, and Henry H. Holmes, a cunning, handsome doctor who has put in place his pharmaceutical murder castle on the fairgrounds itself. Significantly, the palace he built was to torture, seduce, and mutilate young women. The story would take the audience on a tour of murder, mystery, romance in that prosperous era. This project will be Keanu’s first major U.S. TV role.
The news marks a significant step forward when it comes to adaptation, which by the way, has seen various stages since the time Leonardo DiCaprio bought its rights more than a decade ago. In 2019, Hulu had announced that it will be developing the project in the form of a big-budget series and had confirmed that DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese would be the executive producers for it.
