Movies like Sooryavanshi are made for the big screen and which is why it was justifiable for the makers to wait for two years up until the theatres opened their gates again. And much to the delight of the audience and the filmmakers alike, the risk has indeed paid off well. Sooryavanshi had a lot riding on it; from a commercial point of view, there was a lot at stake, but besides all that, it had the responsibility of boosting the morale of the entertainment industry, which is going through an extremely tough time because of the pandemic.

Sooryavanshi can be regarded as one of Rohit Shetty’s best works to date. He has indeed played well with the characters and the two and half hour story. The story revolves around a cop named Sooryvanshi, played by Akshay Kumar, who decides to go behind a mastermind of terror attacks. Although in the pursuit,  he goes through a tumultuous time professionally and personally but stays focused. The story might sound cliché, but due to an excellent screenplay that is unparalleled and gripping in some parts, the movie weaves around pretty well.

The action scenes are done impeccably as one would expect from any Rohit Shetty movie, and most importantly, Rohit has ensured that he doesn’t deviate from the core issue of the film. Sooryavanshi’s content and scale are undoubtedly its biggest strength. Akshay, who returns to the action genre, has delivered the way he does; brilliantly!! Be it his action sequences, his classic comic timing and of course, chemistry with Katrina, every element is impeccable, to say the least. The presence of Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh is a masterstroke by the director and enhances the film pretty well.

While Katrina has a decent role in the film, first-rate actors like Kumud Mishra, Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Sikandar Kher, Sharvari Lohokare, and Jaaved Jaaferi have played their respective parts exceptionally well.  Jackie Shroff has quite an interesting and important role but is not given enough screen space as per his potential. All and all Sooryavanshi, completely justifies its long wait and is a blockbuster in the making.
