Rohit Shetty’s cop saga Sooryavanshi is all set to release a day after Diwali. It will be the biggest movie post the pandemic to hit the theatres. Earlier it was all about the national multiplex chains and the makers at loggerheads over revenue sharing. And now we hear that the film’s distributors have initiated bringing the movie to the single screens demanding a minimum guarantee of Rs. 5 to 10 lacs per property.

The single-screen owners in this scenario will have to agree to shell out Rs. 5 to 10 lacs if they are looking out to screen Sooryavanshi. Some single screen owners have already agreed to the said demand as there is no other content to be showcased during Diwali and a week after that while there are some exhibitors who are still negotiating on the price. Certain exhibitors have begun the process of even giving an advance as per the prescribed condition however, if for some reason the film doesn’t do well, they shall be liable to get the excess amount back from the distributors.

In case of a minimum guarantee and looking at the break up of the single screen where Sooryavanshi is expected to showcase, the movie will earn between Rs. 25-27 crore from them alone. As per a source, this move is a common practice, however, the exhibitors are taken aback by such a strategy by the makers considering the pandemic, its after-effects and the apprehension of what the future has in store. That said, the movie looks promising, and everyone is confident of it emerging profitable in the long run and therefore, the makers without a shred of doubt, deserve the money upfront before the movie’s release.
